Panasonic Debuts EVERLEDS LED Light Bulbs

Today the nice staff from Panasonic invited us to their HQ (in Tokyo) for a press conference where they presented the latest bulb-shaped LED designed to complete the EVERLEDS LED line-up.

This new line-up comes with eight new LED bulbs, announced as the most energy efficient, lightest and smallest LED bulbs of the industry. For this new series of LED Bulb, Panasonic used their heat dissipation technology (thanks an alumite treatment on the surface) for improved energy efficiency. Simply put, the LED’s luminous efficiency increases as temperature decreases.

At the conference Panasonic exhibited some of their new LED bulbs, classical LED and incandescent bulbs… We could touch them and noticed the new LED bulb didn’t give off any heat, really great compared to old bulbs.

Another interesting point to underline is you can save up to 2,000 Yen per year on any LED bulb compared with an incandescent bulb. Let’s imagine you have around 30 incandescent bulbs (60W) in your house, if you replace all of them with new LED bulb, you can save up to 60,000 Yen (€445) per year. Of course, there are some costs, you’ll have to invest around 4,000 Yen (or €30) per unit (standard LED bulb), or 5,000 Yen (37.30) per unit for compact LED… around 120,000 Yen. However, thanks to their lifespan (40,000 hours), you should be able to keep your LED safe for 19 years (5.5 hours use per day)…

The 7.6 W standard and 5.5W compact type LED bulbs are dimmable from 10% to 100%.

Nice, but they’re too low power yet (in watts), the max I saw is 60W, way too low, I was expecting at least 80W, and recommendable (to me) is 90~100W. I hope they release those values soon.

Another point is interesting to assure you can save up to 2000 yen in the year on any of the LED bulb compared with incandescent bulb. Let’s imagine you have the lights on 30 in your home if you replace them all with the new LED bulb.
