Sony announces two new Cyber-Shot in Japan (Hands-On)

This morning at Sony’s newest building, in Shinagawa a few minutes from AkihabaraNews HQ, the Japanese giant unleashed two new Cyber-Shot cameras, the DSC-wx1 and the ultra slim and stylish DSC-TX1

Available in Japan from middle of September, the DSC-WX1 is a 10.2mpix point & shoot using Sony’s latest 1/2.4 Exemor R Cemos censor fitted with a G Lens and a 5x optical zoom. It also features a 2.7″ LCD with an ISO range from 160 to 3200, has 11mb of internal memory and records 720/30p video at 9mbps in Mpeg 4. The WX1 also features a nice Night Shot (see below) where you can shoot pictures in low light without a flash. I admit I’m pretty impressed with the results, I really need to test this ASAP. It also has a 256 degree panoramic mode.

The DSC-TX1 has basically the smame specs and features has the WX1 with the exception of the lens that’s only a 4x optical zoom. It has a 3″ touch panel, an ISO range starting at 125 instead of 160 and only a 185 panoramic mode. Another interesting thing on this camera is the amazing touch UI that puts to a shame the beloved iPhone. The TX1 will be released in Japan early September.
