Rumor: Nikon to Launch Their VP650, a Hybrid Camera with Projector?

2008 was the year of the integration of HD video mode to DSLR, in particular with Cannon’s 5D MKII, Nikon D90, and the Lumix GH1 (even if this one is not a DSLR). A stunning innovation for some people, a simple and crappy gadget for others…

This week end, according to different sources like Crunch Gear, Engadget, Nikon Rumors, and Chasseur d’Images, Nikon intended to launch their VP650, a new kind of hybrid. It seems it’s a compact digital camera featuring a built-in LED projector that will allow the user to project an image of 8 x 12 in the dark.

According to these same sources, this new beast or gadget will be released in September…

And you, what do you think about this new kind of combo? A simple gadget or an interesting innovation? If this info is true, how would you use it?
