Let’s Visit Tokyo – Hamamatsucho River

Hi everyone, here’s another edition of Let’s Visit Tokyo… But first I’d like to warn you that today’s video is a bit short, around 2 minutes, mainly because I twisted my ankle Friday morning and still have some difficulty walking around, making it hard for me to shoot long videos.

Today let’s have a look at Hamamatsucho river, close to the Hamamatsucho train station. A very particular place where an average river is covered by a highway, some subway lines, and even shinkansen (Japanese bullet train) lines…

Not only does the river literally not see the sky, but it’s also a parking area for boat restaurants, floating restaurants you can find for parties around Tokyo Bay, as well as some small fishing boats… And all of this in the heart of Tokyo between Shinagawa JR Station and Tokyo Central JR Station.

Lost in the middle of office and residential buildings, this river hides a small tunnel that leads you to one of Toshiba’s main buildings… A creepy “Blade Runner” like building leading to one of Japan’s leading electronic manufacturers…

The rivers/waterways vid’s you’ve done are my favourites so far, love the combination of very modern, sometimes industrial looking settings, and the traditional looking boats, lamps etc.
Please get well soon and do more vid’s like this!.
    Thank you.

Every time I see one of your videos I feel …well…homesick, although I’ve only been to Japan on vacation.
