Softbank Summer 2009: PhotoVision HW001 Hands-on
Here’s a nice little digital photo frame which immediately receives pictures you send it via email or MMS. Yes this digital photo frame has an emebeded 3G module and you’ll need a dedicated data plan to receive photos your friends and family send you.
I admit I really love the idea behind the PhotoVision and hope to see mode devices like this in the future but with both Wifi and 3G.

3g in a photo frame, thats funny but stupid. i think wifi is much better cause cheaper. who realy needs 3g in a photoframe? i have a phillips and a nextbase and both with wifi and that works good. but for sure, the best ones have a battery inside.
If you get the sim card for free then it is not that expensive (which is case for the receive only functionality). Of course you pay for the data transfer towards the picture frame, but it is very easy to set up (for some it is well worth paying for such service, same as sending photo to other telephone - which people also do).
I mainly use it as picture frame with SD memory card, but they SHOULD have build in a small speaker to be able to use it as a wake up alarm (or to notice you when a new picture arrived).
- Or is there actually a speaker and would it be possible to utilize that for wake alarm via (free) software update? (please)
