We Tested Panasonic’s Latest 3D Full HD Plasma for You

Introduced last year at CEATEC 2008, Panasonic invited us to watch some video footage of their latest 3D Full HD Plasma Theater Home Theater System.
Basically the system enables the viewing of true-to-life 3D FHD images by using a Panasonic 103-inch Plasma HDTV and a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc (BD) player, capable of distributing full high definition (1920 x 1080 pixels) images to each eye. To enjoy this nice Full HD PDP requires a special set of glasses.
To be honest, the demonstration was quite surprising and really interesting. Before attending the presentation, we expected to see classic 3D images where objects and characters emerge from the screen (like a ball coming out of the screen and coming straight on you).
Actually the result of this Full HD Plasma was impressive thanks to the depth offered by the image. We had a real 3D image that gave the illusion of being on the TV next to the characters.
As an example, Panasonic showed us video footage of a football match. It really felt like being on the field with the players and I almost felt I was playing football. Not only did the image provide real depth and totally immersed you in the video, but the quality was also amazing thanks to the Blu-ray ..
Of course not all was perfect. Sometimes when the video was of fast moving scenes moving the picture became a little blurry… Maybe this came from my brain having problems following what was going on.
Regardless, it worked well and we hope to see this nice beast on the market soon.
PS: We weren’t allowed to take pictures as the 3D Full HD Plasma is still a prototype.
