PhotoFast G-Monster 1.8″ SSD IDE V2 – Available Now with 128 GB

Good news for anyone stuck with a 1.8” HDD in their laptop, like me with my Vaio G2 (My ASUS R1F is dead)… The folks at PhotoFast in Taiwan are offering their G-Monster in 1.8” size IDE with capacities ranging from 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.

Specs are not as impressive as the PCI version, but expect a reading speed of 85MB/s and 50MB/s writing speed. Unfortunately as for today we don’t have a price for you, and it like it won’t be available in Japan before the end of the month.

PhotoFast has always been developing products from consumer’s point of view, considering a 128GB would be at least enough spaces for OS, applications and MP3s when building up a Laptop system. Especially developed for IBM laptop X40/X41, this is going to be a whole new savior to bring those back to life.

Extreme Read/Write and Boot-up speed performance
The excellent performance of PhotoFast SSD will maximum reach of 80MB/s in sequential Read speed and 45MB/s in sequential Write speed even more than 140% of similarly sized traditional Hard Disk Drives. PhotoFast SSD supports up to PIO mode 0-6 and Ultra DMA mode 0-6 in dual channel flash memory access. PhotoFast SSD Supports different NAND flash including 2KB and 4KB page size SLC and MLC flash in both single and dual channel access to gain the best performance in market.

Low Power Consumption, No Vibration and Shock Resistance and Less Weight for Mobile PC, Eee PC, PC, Laptops, Gaming systems, and handheld devices and Servers.

PhotoFast SSD is revolution flash-based HDD replacement devices. These give several advantages over rotating magnetic media with significant lower power consumption, no vibration and shock issue in harsh environments, less weight for upcoming more and more light mobile devices. These SSD weight are only approximately half to one third of a traditional Hard Disk Drive. It means that it will soon be the basic fixture of the further increasing easy mobile systems. In the meantime, PhotoFast SSD also use less power consumption, typical operation current less than 200mA, Standby current less than 3mA.

    this is just slightly faster than regular hdd and the capacity of course would be smaller and not to mention expensive.
    another product targeted for those who needs it badly.
    the hdd market is slowly turning to speed wars. i just hope we consumers benefit from it like we did on the spindle hdd’s.
