Walkman NW-X1000 Series Hands-on from Sony HQ

This morning Sony held a press conference for the Japanese launch of their much anticipated NW-X1000 Series Walkman.

Introduced early this year at CES, the X-Series features a nice 3” OLED touchscreen display, with either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, WiFi (for Youtube video), supports DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) and a noise cancellation system. Like most DAPs nowadays, the X-Series is a compact PMP in disguise and supports both video and photos.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting too much this morning, but I found a nice surprise. Granted the X-Series may be a little short in some areas, like the lack of an app store, but if you’re interested in getting a good Mp3 player with TV viewing and recording capabilities and for atching video and don’t care about games, the X-Series is a solid player that will give you exactly what you’re looking for (it even supports Drag and Drop!).

The design is nice, the screen is gorgeous, and Sony was clever enough to provide a button that lets you control your DAP directly from a pocket without having to look at it.

We’ll ask Sony to send us a sample to give you a deeper review. So far, I can say for sure that I’m quite found of this new DAP. Well done Sony…

Meanwhile enjoy our video below!
