New Sony Handycam TG5V, smaller, lighter and now with GPS !

It was about time, the TG1 started to be a little bit outdated compared to its competitors (Sanyo Xacti mainly), and today Sony decided to change things a little with their TG5V (TG7 in Europe), a welcomed upgrade to the TG1.

The TG5V basically keep the same “form factor” has the TG1 but it is now lighter (230g in total) smaller (30x117x62mm) , has 16GB of Internal memory (6h worth of video recoding), a 30mm wide angle (Well that what they say), a new BIONZ and Exemor image processor better in low light, as well as new coating for the Camera body more effective against scratches… The TG5V will be sold in Japan from April 20 onward.

Adding a GPS is pretty niffty. I am using a Nokia N96 (prefer my old N95 though) The “Record Location” feature on its camera works in similiar ways? Pics captured are tagged to the location and revealed on the MAP.

it’s interesting to see what the Asian market will accept…what i mean is they tend to combine features of electronics devices in ways us Americans don’t usually think of, or may accept. i suppose if everyone start to carry these digital cams, especially when on vacation or something, then why not throw in the gps feature right? it makes sense it that was the case.
