HTC Snap, a Fancier, Improved HTC Cavalier

The HTC Cavalier was one of my preferred HTC Smartphones (Windows Mobile 6 Standard) available in Japan and overseas, similar to a Blackberry and a real pleasure… And yesterday (dammit HTC why did you have to put an NDA in CET Time Stamp) HTC announced for the CITA 2009 the Snap, a device that I’ll say is a long awaited upgrade to the HTC Cavalier.

With a similar form factor, the Snap is a fully loaded and capable Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard phone, with 3G support, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS… A worthy successor to the Cavalier…

Me likey!

Are you insane. The Cavalier is truly awful the worst phone I’ve ever experienced. The battery life is ridiculous, it won’t last 12 hours with out a charge. Windows mobile is one of the worst pieces of software I’ve every used, I can’t believe MS can actually sell it. It hangs and the “I’m thinking” icon comes up for the most simple of tasks like opening emails. Phones shouldn’t need a I’m thinking icon.
The sound quality is terrible, it has an annoying habit of hanging up on people instead of answering calls. The screen is prone to breaking (I’ve gone through 3 screens in 18 months – thankfully I got the extra insurance.) I have 5 months left on a 2 year plan and I’m counting the days….

Windows mobile + HTC NEVER AGAIN.
The “new” SNAP phone looks exactly the same as the Cavalier with a pretty skirt on. Don’t be fooled.

Insane… Let me check, Hell YES I AM ! No seriously granted the Cavalier is not an iPhone (man I love mine) but was a pretty descent phone here in Japan, WAY better than all the slow craps that SoftBank, DoCoMo and AU are feeding us everyday !

I use a Nokia E71, looks about the same Symbian, definitly a better choice. Not sure if the Japanese market has them though.
