Acer and e-Machine Japan Introduces a New Atom Powered Desktop

Here ‘s the EL1600 e-Machine, a nice little underpowered desktop with the usual ATOM 230 (1.6GHz), 1GB of RAM, 160GB of HDD, 945GC Express Chipset, DVD Super Multi, and a motherboard that allows you to add a PCI Express one free slot and Windows XP Home.

Definitely not the ultra killer that you may have expected, but for 35,000 Yen (2€70), this may be the perfect micro FTP server, NAS thingy, or ultimate Torrent machine… Oh, and a regular PC for your kids or grandma.

If you are interested in getting something more powerful but with the same body, Acer and e-Machine Japan also has the EL1800 powered by an Pentium E5200, 2GB of RAM, 320GB of HDD, Nvidia 7100+nForce 630i.
