I’m sure there would be plenty of hackers out there who could change the language to English or even install our own GPS application on this. It’s a near perfect device. I wonder why none of these make it to the English speaking world.

None make it to the English speaking world because then the service provider will either cripple it or charge exhorbitant monthly subscription fees. I just purchased a similar device yesterday. For no additional fee, it contains every apartment complex, every restaurant, every post office, every firehouse, even every speed bump and speed camera! And, it warns you (in Korean) when you’re over the speed limit and getting close to one. And all this literally out of the box, along with TV stations, radio, even MP3 and karaoke capability (in my car, only for the passengers

Changing the language to english, and changing the map to english are two very different procedures.

What I am looking for, is a speed/safety camera database for South Korea and Japan. I would like to import those into my Garmin GPS as POI’s. Any ideas?

My wife is Korean and we spent two weeks in November 2009 in Seoul. My brother-in-law has an IQ500, and it is phenomenal! You can split-screen an overhead map view with a 3d ground level view and have news or weather reports pop up as reports are issued. The voice is really sweet, in contrast to the voice in my Navigon (that I use at home in Canada) which is choppy and kind of authoritarian sounding.

Maybe we should all write FineDrive asking for a North American version.
