New Epson R-D1xG, Your Shiny New (Old) Camera
For many the Leica M8.2 is by far the best, most elegant rangefinder digital camera, but costs your soul… Back in 2004 Epson introduced the R-D1, a Leica alternative… Four years later, Epson refreshed their R-D1 with the R-D1xG, featuring a new 2.5” LCD and SDHC card support. Otherwise the R-1DxG retains the same 6Mpix censor and other R-D features.

“So Back in 2004 Epson introduced the R-D1 alternative the Leica… 4 years later, Epson refreshed its R-D1″
As far as I know Epson and not Leica where the first to market a digital rangefinder, so surely Leica launched an alternative to the Epson?
… I have to check this but you maybe right… My understanding was the other way around…
Epson was the FIRST to introduce the digital rangefinder. The RD1 actually inspired Leica to make the M8. I actually happen to know this from Leica inside, and high up. But guys, we have both models in the family, but the RD1s (a slightly software updated model of the RD1) is the one i always prefer. Forget about the Leica for the few more pixels. Epsons color rendition, perfectly balanced handling, and joy of use is simply a pleasure. Again and again. .
