Toshiba TG01, World’s First 1GHz Snapdragon CPU Powered WiMo Phone

Yesterday the Japanese Web magazine Nikkei announced a future Toshiba iPhone killer, and guess what… Toshiba Europe dropped the bomb several hours later with this announcement… nothing yet from Toshiba Japan.

If you think the HTC Touch HD was the only cool device on the market, you should consider Toshiba’s new TG01.

What’s special? Aside from the disappointing news regarding the OS version, yep no WiMo 6.5, just plain old 6.1… This new pocket PC is the first device to be powered by a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU, features a nice 4.1” WVGA screen, HSDPA and HSUPA, WiFi, GPS… And not only it supports H.264 files is also DviX friendly.

Well done Toshiba, like a phoenix you are back in the pocket PC world, and this time with a pretty impressive piece of hardware. It’s a pity that it doesn’t come with 6.5.
