Sony LocationPorter, Stream Your Camcorder Video Via 3G

Pretty much for professionals and hard core crazy geeks like myself, here’s Sony’s LocationPorter. Simply put, plug your camcorder or camera directly into a LocationPorter connected to the Net via 3G, LAN, or whatever… It streams video to another LocationPorter that can display live what you’re recording on your camera.

Don’t expect much, we’re not talking about HD but with a single 3G connection you can stream video in 352×240 a 5 to 15fps with 64 to 160kbps… with 2 3G card you can reach for the same size and fps 64kbps to 320kbps, and finally if you choose a LAN connection you’ll get up to 30fps at 1024kbps max.

The codec used here is the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC main profile… Now this might not much since we’re not talking about HD, but think about all these video reporters. Now they only need a simple and compact camcorder plug, a LocationPorter Box, and two 3G cards for live coverage almost anywhere…

See the video below for more information and a live example.
