Plus One LCD-8000U, the 8” Additional LCD Wonder: Hands-on

This was supposed to be officially announced tomorrow, but Century apparently couldn’t wait. Earlier this week century came to our office to announce their latest and coolest 8” SVGA 800×600 external LCD.
Like its previous model (with a Mitsubishi LCD panel), this additional screen requires only a PC with a USB port to be used, and unlike its competitors it works flawlessly on both PC and Mac Intel devices.
If here the panel isn’t a Mitsubishi but rather from an average Taiwanese manufacturer, the mate LCD is pretty nice and and will provide full satisfaction. To be honest with you, I ordered one to stick next to my 24” DELL LCD.
It will be on sell at GeekStuff4U.com next week at the official Japanese price of 17,750 Yen.

At $190us it’s priced more than some current full-size LCD monitors. It may sell on novelty value but for REAL value the price will have to come down.
I must say I actually think they’re kinda pricey. Sure they’re all neat and nice, and i’d love to have a couple of those under my 17″ screens but for even lower that price I can get my hands on 19″ widescreens.
If they’re going through USB, do they eat a lot of the computer performance, Incase you get another 2 of them, The good news seems that you don’t need to buy more graphic cards atleast
My setup: http://sadpanda.us/images/220-LBOCFSF.jpg
Can it be rotated and used in portrait orientation?
I just checked the specs and only 32bit OS versions are supported, and no Linux unfortuantely:

Fortunately I only run Linux using VirtualBox under Vista.
Can rotate screen yes,
