Yesterday Sony Europe announced four new model desktop speakers, the SRS-D25, the SRS-M50, SRS-Z50, and SRS-Z100. We’re not sure about their novelty here at Akihabara News because some of them are already available on French websites, like LCDL.
Regarding specs, the D25 is a 2.1 speaker system that provides a RMS output power of 25 W (2x5W for the satellite and 10W for the subwoofer).
The M50 is a travel type speaker, that provides an output power of 5W.
The Z50 features a 38mm Neodymium driver with a reflex port for rich bass reproduction.
The Z100 develops an output power of 25Watts.

Colourful, compact, and beautifully designed desktop speakers from Sony
• Four new models for maximum choice
• Superb audio quality yet compact, space-saving design
• Stylish looks and colour options to suit every taste and decor
Whether upgrading an existing PC or enhancing the audio capabilities of a notebook, the new generation of Sony desktop speaker systems offers a powerful mix of quality and visual appeal. Engineered with the benefit of Sony’s distinguished audiophile heritage yet styled for the digital age, the SRS range stands out on every level.
“Sony has led the way with superb and hugely appealing design for its VAIO notebooks and PCs,” said Lynda Lamraoui, European Product Manager for PC Accessories “The SRS speaker range embodies the same spirit: superlative technology wrapped in head-turning design. Whether that means flamboyant colour or perfectly judged restraint, you will find it here.”
The SRS-D25 perfectly expresses the key qualities of the new models. Physically compact yet powerful, this 2.1 array delivers a total 25W of clear, punchy sound ideal for music, film soundtracks and gaming. It features a unique, ‘hatbox’ style sub-woofer and a colour choice of Urban Black, Luxury Pink, Blazing Red and Pure White. People can choose freely what best matches their VAIO, their decor or their taste. Accessible built-in controls and dual inputs for use with both a PC and portable devices ensure complete convenience. Internal magnetic shielding limits noise interference from computers and displays, ensuring that the sound is as pure and lifelike as it should be.
By contrast, the innovative SRS-M50 offers portability for those on the move with their MP3 players and notebooks. A 5W two-piece stereo array, the SRS-M50 is highly compact and weighs just 0.27kg. Clever design allows both speakers to slot together for easy carrying and to provide integrated storage for the cabling and plug. A choice of mains power or batteries (an internal compartment houses 3 x AAA) means the freedom and convenience of sound wherever you want it. Despite its diminutive size, the SRS-M50 produces plenty of volume and solid bass, and again there’s a choice of colours including Urban Black, Luxury Pink and Pure White.
The two-piece SRS-Z50 is stylishly slim, making it ideal for anyone wanting to preserve desk space but still have quality PC audio that looks fantastic. Each speaker features a 38mm Neodymium driver unit with a reflex port for rich bass reproduction. The integrated amplifier generates a combined 5W of sound power – plenty for music, movies or gaming. Magnetic shielding limits noise interference, and there are dual inputs for using a phone or MP3 player alongside a PC. There is also a headphone output for those occasions when you don’t want to make too much noise. This model is available in Urban Black or Pure White.
Those seeking the very best from their desktop audio will be drawn to the SRS-Z100. This two-piece active system looks as good as it sounds thanks to a classic, minimal design and black-only finish. Each speaker contains a mid-range driver with a reflex port for enhanced bass response and a tweeter for detailed and crisp high frequencies. Perfect for listening to music, the system can deliver real volume thanks to a combined 20W output. All the features you would expect are present, from magnetic shielding to dual inputs and a headphone output, and the active amplification features a Bass Boost function for floor-shaking low frequencies when you want them.
