NEC LaVie Light, Officially the Ugliest Netbook… EVER!

Back in October we announced the arrival of a new kid in town (in Japan) when it comes to netbooks, the NEC LaVie Light… ( NEC LaVie Light: New Challenger for all Netbooks) with an 8.9” screen, an Atom N270 CPU, 160GB of HDD, 1GB of memory… Some pretty common specs nowadays.

If we had some doubts about its design, we were FAR, OH so far from realizing how ugly this pc is… You can’t imagine how stunned I was at lunch when I can across a LaVie Light in a Yodobashi camera store… Here are some pictures for you (yeah, the iPhone camera sucks BIG TIME)… To put things into perspectives it looks like a Lada Riva 1500.

Honestly, if you happen to walk down a street with one under your arms, kids may throw you stones and laugh at you. I feel truly sorry for NEC, they usually build descent stuff. But here… Ouch!

To NEC: Sorry for the earlier comments, if you need design help/advice just drop us a mail!

    hahaha Guys you rock!

I’m from Russia, so I know what Lada is, yea, it’s true, the design is very similar to Russian cars

Ha ha that is pretty bad very retro look from the early nineties.

Though what’s the price like a lot of these netbooks are not good value for money if NEC’s is genuinely cheap then at least you know why.

It’s just old-fashioned, it looks like old home computers from ’89s. Maybe they love retro style.
