XH A1S and XH G1S: Two New Canon HD Cameras
Canon USA and Japan have announced two new HD cameras, the XH-A1S and XH G1S. With the exception of the XH G1S which supports HD-SDI/SD-SDI output, SMTPE Timecode I/O and Genlock Input, these cameras are pretty much the same.
Thank to an improved 20x optical zoom, OIS (image stabilizer) and DIGIC DV II, they support both 60i, 30F and 24F in 1080 mode. Unfortunately Canon still relies on HDV tape and a limited 27Mbps to record video. Whatever 30F and 24F are, we’re not talking of 720p30 or 720p24 here…
Either way, I’m sure many Canon fans will appreciate this update. As far as we’re concerned our hearts belong to Panasonic and their P2 camera technology.
Expected to pay $3999 and $6999 USD.
