AkihabaraNews Update and Features

Hi folks, hope you’re all enjoying your week-end wherever you are! Just a few updates for you regarding Akihabara News, and some new features.

1) Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts regarding this topic: AkihabaraNews 2009… Design Tests, we received quite a lot of email and we haven’t had the time to process everything, but the goods news is that your requests and what we have in mind for Akiba 2009, are pretty similar.

I would also like to stress once more that the actual Akiba and design test we’re working on today are not what Akiba 2009 will look like.

2) A new forum is now open Forum.AkihabaraNews.com. Historically speaking Akihabara News has always had a forum, but with the arrival of the new Blog Time comments system we allowed the forum die. Now due to a huge demand (French speaking community), we decided to rebuild a forum where all of you can share your thoughts and ideas together, relevant to the of Akihabara News articles or not.
Also we will soon open a classified section for people/individuals (no professional are allowed) will be allowed to post items they’d like to sell.

We have no intention of starting an alternative to eBay, but we’re all geeks and some of us own a lot of stuff we’d like to sell. There’s no doubt that Akihabara News is where many geeks visit daily (over 2 Million a month now), and could be a good place for you guys to get rid of your extra toys.

3) We have below the HP and latest review column a list of links relevant to Akihabara News, like our Twitter HP, Facebook HP, Flicker, Dailymotion… More will come later like the Akihabara News Official Emergency Blog http://akihabaranews.wordpress.com/, if you can’t access to Akiba (server crash, MysQL error…) you can go there to get the latest Akiba update and news concerning its health.

4) Upcoming features? We’ll soon begin the RSS to Email, those who want can receive all Akihabara News (24h) in one email to read off line. Other cool things will come later on.

If you have questions or ideas on how to improve Akiba, let us know below in the comments section or by email at akihabara.news[at]gmail.com

Finally, we received a lot of email regarding a PodCast… Would you be interested in one? Please give us your thoughts in the poll below.

59% Yes for Sure
37% Nope, So 1999
4% A Pod What ?
