Takara Tomy’s Wall Climbing Aero Spider: Hands-on and Quick Mini Review!

Announced by Takara-Tomy a while ago, the amazing Aero Spider is now available in Japan! We got one of these little monsters to test for you.
What’s an Aero Spider? It’s a small RC racing car that can be run on the floor, any plain wall or window, and even the ceiling! YES! Its internal vacuum system literally glue it to many surfaces.
Don’t get it? Just go and put the hose of your vacuum cleaner on a clean surface, hit the power button, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
It comes with a small remote control that doubles as a battery charger for the car. The package doesn’t have much inside, only a Japanese manual stating a long list of things that you shouldn’t do with it It’s made pretty cheap and obviously light. The car itself looks quite good, but we were surprised to discover the wheels on this little road devil are fake. Two other wheels with rubber bands are used to propel the car.
The remote control is HUGE, more than twice the size of the car. You’ll need six batteries (not included) to power both the remote and the car.
Now let’s power this baby up! The first surprise is the loud noise the car’s vacuum system makes, you probably won’t have much fun (with the car) at night if your girlfriend is sleeping next to you (If you’re bored at night with your girlfriend, please contact us. We may have some suggestions to help you to spice things up a little.).
Second surprise, this thing WORKS! As you can see in the video and photos, the car pretty much glues itself to walls and ceilings. You can drive it like a maniac all around your house.
Everything went according to plan, but we were a bit disappointed by the car’s steering. To steer it smoothly you’d better have a very flat wall. It’s also difficult to steer the car straight, but hey! For the price of this thing, what can you expect?
Final Words… Here’s a fun toy with a twist that will surely amaze people around you when you play with it, at home or the in the office. The overall package looks kind of cheap, and the steering is far from perfect, but two or more of these car would be dead funny with friends at a party.
The Aero Spider is available at geekstuff4U.
