often people use a product called “hypersim” google it .. it will unlock most functions but some are operator specific. Like many Japanese handsets these are smart-feature phones. If you ripped the operators layer off and put your own UI like SPB mobile shell (works on Symbian) you might be able to turn it into an open smartphone. But don’t expect miracles.
