OT: Even TV Geeks and Nerds Laugh at the Zune
I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but a while ago Microsoft released the Zune MP3 player in North America. Ok, I’m joking… OF course you’re familiar with this DAP. It isn’t bad, it even outperforms the iPOD in some areas, but it appears that MS has had a lot of difficulty winning the public’s hearts and minds with it.
Last night I watched “CHUCK” (NBC)… The Story of Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi), who works at a Best Buy type store (buy more). By some accident he got all critical US Government secrets in his head, the Intersect, and is now protected by two agents, Major John Casey and Sarah Walker. Go and find more about Chuck on NBC.
Well Chuck is a geek and so are his friends… In last night’s episode there was a funny moment when both Chuck and a friend slap the Zune in the face. Something like, “Having a Zune me? Are you kidding and who owns one, I have my iPOD…” It was pretty hilarious and made me think of the power some TV series on viewers… It made me wonder about the effect of voluntary – involuntary marketing effects on people…
What do you think? Are you influenced by product placements on TV? Like Audi and Iron Man, Nissan with Heroes, and so on? (see the poll below).
