Retro World, SOTEC’s 1998 iMac Clone, the e-One

Back in 1998 Apple rocked the world with their colorful iMac. Believe it or not, at this time many PC makers began rethinking their designs to attract more customers… Like the Japanese manufacturer SOTEC with their almost perfect 98 iMac clone, the e-One…

If you’re interested in this piece of computer history, go and visit a nearby Sofmap second-hand store. For only 100 Yen (0.87€) you can be the proud owner of this iMac clone. At this price it has been stripped of its motherboard, HDD, and CPU.

Note: I love the A/V output on the side of this PC. In 1999 Apple Computer sued SOTEC over thier clone, apparently produced for Sotec by TRIGEM (Averatec) in Korea. It was also sold at Circuit City stores in the USA.
