Akiba Interactive Review: Cannon’s 5D Mark II (beta) RAW Pictures by Night

Hi guys! Around 66% of you enjoyed our first Interactive & Live Review, so we decide to do it again!

Today, due to a demand made by some of you, we’re releasing some RAW pictures taken in standard mode (sharpness 3) in 50 / 320 / 640 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400 / 12800 / 25600 ISO. Some of you also asked us to turn OFF the noise reduction.

Well, what do we think of these shots?

We found that the pictures remain workable without any problems up to 1600 ISO, even up to 3200 ISO. According to David, 3200 ISO corresponds to a picture shot at 800 ISO on the 5D’s previous version.

Beyond 3200 ISO, namely 12800 / 25600 ISO, it’s clearly designed for the night-shot vision frustrated.

Here’s the link for our RAW picture download.

    Guys,

    thanks a bunch for these.

    However, a word of warning.

You are going to get hammered for hosting those files

275MB and pretty soon the whole of the Canon community will start downloading them.

    Great review.

Is possible to you to take some photos with the 5dmk2 and the std 5d? same subjet, same light conditions and same lens?
It would be the perfect to compare both cameras.
    The perfect review for me.
