Blu-ray Portable Super Multi Drive for the New MacBook

Blu-ray is a bag of hurt… Well ok, if you don’t mind being stuck with iTunes and its HD thingy. But guess what Steve, many people like myself buy HD movies to store and keep them for a long time. I purchase my Blu-ray discs from AMAZON US and enjoy watching them on my PS3 here in Tokyo. But hey, who am I anyway? I’m sure I’m the most unique geek on earth by not wanting to spend too much money on virtual things. I’m sure I’m just old fashioned.
It seems that AMEX Digital in HK will jump on the wagon for people, me included, who wanted a MacBookPro with Blu-ray. You know, in case I’m stuck on of one of those crowded airliners for a long flight with crappy Video On Demand services. Or maybe at a hotel, on the train, or simply on holiday. But I’m sure Steve’s right, people don’t want Blu-ray, they only need their iTunes HD thingy.
But for the rebels, here’s AMEX’s solution to Apple’s mistake…
The Portable Blu-ray Super Multi Drive supports Quiet Drive Technology that reduces the noise level of audio and video playback while delivering increased writing reliability. Liquid Crystal Tilt/Blur Compensator plays and records to discs more reliably – ad Research Technology compensates for warped discs. Dual/Double Layer recording provides nearly twice the capacity of a single layer recordable Blu-ray-R (25 Gbytes vs. 50 Gbytes).
Store Retail Price : US$289.00

Ouch! Adding another $300 to an already overpriced Apple notebook just to watch overpriced BD discs is really “a Bag of Hurts”.
people who buy Apple computers don’t care about price, if they did, they’d buy a pc.
