Toshiba Announces a New 2.5-Inch SSD Drive and a New Flash Module

Yesterday Toshiba announced the world’s first 1.8-Inch HDD with 250GB of storage capacity, and today, they unvieled a 2.5-Inch SSD, the THNS256GE8BC.

Our new SSD features 256GB of storage space, and provides a writing speed of 70MB/s and a reading speed of 120MB/s. The mass production of this SSD will start in October.

Toshiba’s flash module is mainly designed for Netbook, and is available in three flavors: 8GB/16GB/32GB. It provides a reading speed of 80MB/s and a writing speed of 50MB/s.

No word on the prices.
