Three New DVRs with 1TB HDD and XDE Technology from Toshiba

As you may be aware, Toshiba decided for you that crappy up-scaling technology (eXtended Detail Enhancement) is what you need, not the fancy HD tech that you find on a Blu-ray disks… Anyway, since Toshiba strongly revels in their “advanced” (LOL) tech, today they decided to launch three new DVRs that support XDE (eXtended Detail Enhancement).
Let’s start with the high-end model RD-X8. It has 1TB of HDD, XDE, digital TV tuner, supports MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codecs, and a DVD DL burner. Then we have the RD-S503 with 500GB, and the RD-S303 with only 320GB.
If you’re not interested in Toshiba’s DVR solution, you can still get an XDE (LOLTECH) player, the SD-XDE1…
PS: We found a new acronym for the XDE, LOLTECH.
PPS: Seriously, there is indeed some interest in the XDE. This could be an interesting DVD format upgrade, but as far as I’m concerned HD is the best thing ever.
