Century Launches a USB Hub with Built-in Ethernet Port

Japan’s Century just released information on a device that may interest some of you, a four port USB hub with a built-in ethernet port.

It allows you to share HDD, printer, scanner or other files in your personal network, just plug into your router and that’s it.

It will be available on September 19th, but no word on the price.

sure, but the Century box will probably be 1/10th the price of the LTX box…..

What _really_ is that? If it is some kind of “server” for sharing some USB devices via lan, then the name “USB hub” is misleading and I would even say untruthful. USB hub is (in short) a device, which connects to USB port and makes additional USB ports. And there is no word about connecting this to USB in a computer as a USB hub. Of course, it has inside a USB hub (if it does not have four USB controllers), but I definitely would not call this USB hub.

Well… VMware ESX does not support USB devices. So, in virtualized IT environment it’s important to have on of these hubs for virtual machines that need a USB port.

For example, some aplications need a KeyUSB for launch…
