I’m a big fan of Apple products. Been a user for 10 plus years. I don’t mind Palm design, because they don’t rely to heavily on touch screens. In my day to day work, touch screens do not stand up too well. So although I wouldn’t call it elegant, I certainly would not call it ugly. Especially from a usability standpoint.
