Samsung Korea Launches Its “Green” Phone

We talked about it last week, and today Samsung announced the Korean release of Eco Phone (aka SCH-W510) a “green” HSDPA phone.

Samsung uses bioplastic made from natural corn in its construction, and no heavy metals (like lead, mercury, cadmium …). We have a fairly complete phone in terms of specs: a 3Mpix camera, Bluetooth, multimedia player, DMB …

Obviously, this phone is only for our Koreans friends. Once again …

    Sounds like a marvelous idea! But I just had a few questions concerning the bio-plastic used in the construction of the phone. How much energy is used to create the plastic, it’s ability to be recycled, and the lifespan of the plastic. For an eco-friendly product, it’s not only important for the final product to be green but the entire life span from it from birth to death.
