MSI Wind U100, OS X Friendly!

Thanks to James for this tip! Yes, the Almighty MSI Wind, better known as LuveBook in Japan, can apparently flawlessly run a modified and illegal (unfortunately) OS 10.5.2… This gives us the most affordable OSX powered notebook ever!

Apparently there is still some work to do, the wireless lan still doesn’t work, but both the Bluetooth and ethernet do…

The MSI Wind U100 is powered by an Intel ATOM N270 (1.6GHz) CPU, has 1GB of RAM, 80GB of HDD, a 10.2” WSVGA screen, Wifi BG, ,Bluetooth and a 1.3Mpix camera.

Cool, if the wireless can be gotten working I might just have to pick one of these up

I do note that the aspect ratio of the resolution pictured is wrong for the screen (appears to be a 4:3AR smashed onto a 16:10 screen resulting in flattening and fattening of images) so I question how “flawless” the mod is.

Uhhh…flawless as in it installs fine because it’s an Intel machine duh?
Technically, it is impossible to be OS X friendly…even if it installs perfectly fine, 90% of the OS X can’t be used…so it’s useless…

Kamina: You should probably do some research before you babble about things you don’t know about. It took effort for OS X to install fine, it needs more than to be an ‘intel machine’. I can use 100% of OS X on my two hack machines, thanks to the work of many people. It’s very possible that this machine will work okay, as it uses a GMA 950. They probably never bothered putting in a proper screen resolution, hence why the display sucks right now.

    Very good review!

Besides the so called “illegal” aspect of using mac’s OS on non-Apple machines, this seem to be a cool hack attempt. Good job!
