MDR-NC500D: The New Sony Headphone with 99% Noise Cancellation

Thanks to the newly developed DNC Software Engine, Sony canceled up to 99% of external noise while listening to music with the new MDR-NC500D headphone. Made to be used in many situations, with three different modes:
A: Cancels most of aircraft noise (while traveling).
B: Cancels most car, bus, and train noise.
C: Cancels most noises that occur at home or in the office, like printers, air conditioning systems, crying babies…
(Sorry for the bad joke
).
Our headphones work on a 5Hz to 24kHz range at 40Ω with a maximum output of 100mW and a sensibility of 102dB/mW. Finally expect a total weight of 195g for this little wonder.

whatever they mean by 99%…
0.01 times original amplitude would be just -12dB if i remember this stuff correctly.
noisy airplane minus 12dB is still a noisy airplane.
anybody knows about this more in detail?
… okay, -12dB is wrong for sure. here’s my 2nd try: i think it’s -20dB.
