Put a Tachikoma on Your Desk!
Fans of “Ghost In The Shell” treat yourself to the official Tachikoma robot reproduction from Bandai!
Constructed in metal, the Tachikoma can be plugged into any USB port and reacts in different ways (eyes, lights, and speaker) thanks to a companion software. You’ll have a different mode and mini games on your desktop and your Tachikoma will somehow interact with you. If you choose so, your very own Tachikoma will alert you whenever you recieve new email.
Beware that you require Japanese OS to install the companion software, or an English (German, Spanish…) PC with Japanese support.

I don’t get it, can this thing move?
Has it previously stepped on something or are the rubber pads on its paws are slightly wearing off? It’s leaving marks on the desk as seen on the first few pictures…
No this Tachikoma do not move (watch the video) this is just some kind of “nicely” done model that you can hook up to your computer
It would be nice if it could move something while you receive e-mail. Btw, I’m unable to watch the video (it doesn’t appear here).

You cannot see any flash contents ? How is that ?

Bandai Tachikoma
Is this available in akihabara? I’m heading there in a few week’s time for 2 days. Which shop can I get this toy?
Yep, should be available everywhere in Japan normally
Wow, that’s very lame. It does look like a nice model but it’s $200!!! You can get a pvc model for much less and it’ll do about as much as this thing. For the money it should be able to move or at least scoot around or something. Here, check out the seller’s page: http://www.geekstuff4u.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=649
It’s $200~ if you buy from there. It’s much less if you buy straight from Japan. I had my cousin buy it (a website also had a 20% discount) and send it over here for about $135 total with EMS shipping even with the crappy exchange rate.
