People think that because Japan is the leader in consumer electronics that everything is cheaper. NO they&#039;re not. They&#039;re a lot more expensive and that is because they&#039;re the most high-tech. And whatever the rest of the world has, generally speaking, is outdated in Japan so it&#039;s not cheap, it&#039;s obsolete. 
Fortunately for me, it usually means that having explained this, they&#039;ll usually be put off and I never have to buy any latest gadgets for my friends.
