Two New Bluetooth Powered DAPs from Sony

Behold Sony’s shiny new NW-A829 with 16GB of internal memory, and the NW-A828 with 8GB of internal memory. Our two DAPs support OF course MP3, WMA, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, Sony PCM, and AAC and HE-AAC audio file formats. Nothing too fancy so far? Well hold on…
Our DAPs are only 9.3mm thin (50.2×93.6×9.3mm at just 59g), and have been given a Bluetooth module allowing you to enjoy a wireless audio experience for just around 36h (maximum battery life span); or 10h if you want to use your DAP as a PMP since you’re also able to enjoy video (mpeg-4/H.264 and AVC) on our little Walkmans.

Hey Daimaou, you forgot to mention they can use mpeg-4 (h.264) and AVC too. Any idea on prices? Cannot wait to those units arrieve here in Chile.
Found the press release:
http://www.sony.jp/CorporateCruise/Press/200802/08-0220B/
16GB: $38.000 (or USD$ 350)
8GB: $28.000 (or USD$ 260)
I would say, kinda expensive for just 16GB. They should go for 80GB at this price (sigh).
Release date: 20/03/2008 in Japan.
Thanks for mentioning the MPEG4, I forget about it.
Hi Daimaou,
I have bought and tested the NWZ-A828K and unfortunately the device doues not play HE-AAC files. You mentioned it should do. I bought this device in germany. Can it be that the HE-AAC playback is regionally limited (maybe to Japanese devices).
Where do you have your information from? Was the HE-AAC support announced by Sony?
Regards,
Christian
would the japanese version have an english menu? also, would it be sonicstage dependent?
Hi – I bought one of these yesterday only to realize that you cannot load the Japanese Sonicstage software onto an English O/S. Is there any other software that is compatible with this player or any other way to get music onto it – i.e. drag and drop. Sony “Product Support” wasn;t too helpfull…..
You don’t need any software, it’s a waste of time! just plug it and drag and drop via
win.explorer. The thing Is if you want everything to be “nice” u must edit your
ID3 tags, I recommend Aimp2 or Tagrunner, and then drop them into player via win.media player 11. It’s actually very
simple, but Id3 tags can be a pain in the
a*s. Also one interesting note, If you drag and drop files via win.explor. the “year” data wont be visible in A829, but if you do it via media player11 it will be ok !
