DRC-BT15: A New Bluetooth Module from SONY

Do you own an audio device which does not include a Bluetooth module? But you still wish to enjoy the freedom of a wireless life? Here’s a new Bluetooth module from SONY. Yep, these things are not amazingly new, but those who love SONY products will be happy to know that SONY just released in Japan the DRC-BT15, a EDR and A2DP stylish Bluetooth module.

If by “audio device which does not include a Bluetooth module” refers to headphones, portable speakers, or some other device that accepts an audio signal, then you are correct. That is, the DRC-BT15 is a BlueTooth receiver (not a transmitter). It’s main purpose is to allow an owner of a BlueTooth enabled device to use headphones of his/her choice. So, for example, I can use this device with ear plug headphones when I want sound isolation, over the ear headphones when I want to hear what’s going on around me, or noise cancelling headphones on an airplane. IMO, it beats buying a mix of BlueTooth and non-BlueTooth headphones.

If you’re looking for a gizmo to allow a non BlueTooth device, such as an iPod, to connect to BlueTooth headphones (or the DRC-BT15 for that matter) then you want something like the Sony TMR-BT8IP or Sony TMR-BT10.
