MWC 2008: SE W980i Hands-on

Here you are some live shots of the latest Walkman Clamshell phone from Sony Ericsson, the W980i! With a pretty nice design our handset is in fact a real ALL in one with for example a 3.2Mpix AF camera, 8GB of internal memory, a DAP function (Walkman), HSDPA, Bluetooth, FM Radio, USB Mass Storage… in just 16.9mm of thickness and at just 100g. Well done guys !

    Does everyone has to copy the RAZR design nowadays? I mean, Nokia and Samsung did it; and now also SE? Of all the mobile phone makers, SE is the very least I am expecting to copy design from others.

    you must open your eyes more. How on earth is that even a “copy” of the RAZR design? It’s not even like the RAZR2 design as well.

    well…although its not a carbon copy of the RAZR…i wouldn’t say that its nothing like the RAZR…
    Specs wise, yes it makes all the RAZR and RAZR2s look like plastic trash that Motorola makes everyday…but RAZR was the first phone to be ever made that slim and has made great success…therefore the phone companies now use the “slimness” of the RAZR to market their own cellphones….

    U wrote that it has a 3,2 mpx camera with AF. Now thats not true. The only walkman phone that SE released with AF was w810i(or maybe also w960i but Im not sure). They do this to make u chose between C-S and walkman(ahhh the politics…).

    Well in your eyes it my be a copy and maby its time SE copy to as i can rem. most copy from SE like the walkman and camera functions , way back with the first SE I bought every body envy me with a camera phone then samsung soon followed moto didnt even thought of it rest is history so why cant SE copy too i say go for it and give the other companies a run for there money

    Right, I see. So every clamshell phone is now a RAZR knockoff? Please.

    For a start if it were a RAZR knockoff they’d have to install a crap UI and make sure it couldn’t hold a call for longer than 30 seconds

    It looks pretty good to me, I’m not sure about the clear plastic though, presumably that runs over the entire front, looks like a scratch magnet to me.

    i dont think this phone is a copy of motorola rzr i he both phones and they couldnt look more different the motorola is a peice of crap its tacky but this phone has style and that why its a big sucsess
