HDMI for All? Well Not the Best, BenQ X2200W
The option of plugging your PS3 or XBOX 360 into your LCD via HDMI is a nice feature, and convenient too. If you agree, you’ll be happy to hear that BenQ has just released two new LCD monitors: X2000W (20”), and X2200W (22”).
Both have 1680×1050 resolution, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a brightness of 300cd/m2. Of course, our screen not only has a HDMI port, but also features a DVI HDCP port and RGB.
Hold on a second. Why don’t 90% of the LCD manufacturers sell a 24” version of their monitor with HDMI support, and why add HDMI to a screen which is not even full HD, or with a resolution of 1920×1200?
How hard could it be to manufacture a 24” Full HD monitor with HDMI ?

No that hard as Benq already have a line of 24″ HDMI equiped displays… there aren’t many (any?) panel manufacturers that make fullhd/1920×1200 20″ and 22″ panels so I guess they strive to offer the best they can..
Obviously you don’t know much about LCD technology, but the panels used for 24+ inch LCDs are usually *VA or S-IPS panels, and almost all LCDs smaller than 24inches are TN panels. So its a little more complicated than just making a bigger panel with the same everything else. Plus they already make a 24inch with HDMI that has almost all of the features the new x2200w has.
Good insight Mareel. I also did not know the difference between the small screens versus the bigger ones. =)
