The Apple MacBook Air!

As every Geek knows, Apple World was held in San Francisco this year. As usual, Steve Jobs put on a show and announced yet another wonder…what is it? The MacBook Air!

From 4 to 19mm thick, a 13.3 inch monitor, trackpad, standard HDD or SSD, WiFi 802.1n, Intel Core 2 Duo processor (1.6 or 1.8GHz) a physical reduction of 60% (!!), autonomy of 5 hours, and more…for 1799$.

Let’s hope that this won’t translate into 1799€!

Well… costs 16.495 Swedish Krona which translates into 1748 EUR…

well, basically its a thinner macbook, with no ethernet port, no dvd-drive, only 1 usb port, no removeable battery.

    and its more expensive too.
Dunno why one would want to buy it.

Il take the Dell m1330 over this

Don’t think of it as an expensive Dell, it is an extremely affordable ultraportable. Check prices on things like the Panasonic W7 or R7, the Vaio G2, the Asus U1, and the Apple starts to look very well priced. Most similarly spec’d computers are priced in the $2500-$3500 range. Also, with the recent weakness of the dollar, the prices on ultraportables have risen dramatically this year, making the apple even more attractive.

it has nothing but monitor and keyboard, ultra useless ……no wonder apple stock lost 8% yesterday……………well there was nothing in the air….!!

I see all the Japanese TV shows promoting Macbook Air.

Many Japanese live in small places so the MacBooks are more attractive which does away with the ‘computer table’. Besides the size, weight etc it has a ‘high cute factor’ which is very important in Japan.
