How much would you pay for a CD player?

The SACD for Super Audio CD is supposed to provide “uber” good sound, and I’m sure that all the music loving Geeks already have one at home… or maybe not… Today TEAC is coming up with the “VRDS X-05″, an SACD + CD-R/RW player… so, how much would you pay for this? Well I guess not the 500,000 Yen (3,000€) that it costs…

this is where I would love to see a review!

i’d pay about $10 for what its worth. hd players have a way better DAC.

Nothing. I prefer to have my audio files stuck on a NAS.

If you are going to use digital outputt – it worse nothing, because any player will satisfy your “digital needs”. If you are planning to plug to analog output – you will add extra noise by next amplifier/device/etc.

PS: btw, there is no headphones jack – that’s bad… it does not worse any more attention.

for a DVD-Audio/SA-CD/CD player… maximum $500.. preferably less.

No wonder that there hardly is any of these highdef. audio discs avalible with these prices on the players.

Why would I want to buy a CD player of all things. I have a computer with a high end sound card so no need for this. If I were an audiophile I’d go for a dvd audio or something like that anyway. Not to mention audiophiles say that LPs sound better than CD and prefer analog sound over digital. Can’t say I would agree nor that I care much anyway. Money they want for this is pretty much out of this world and even further out of my price range. (Though, the price of this clearly speaks who it is intended for so this discussion about how much average everyday person would pay for a CD player makes little sense.)
