LG iPhone-clone Set for Fall Release – NEWS UPDATE -
The new U990 “Viewty” from LG might look a little like the iPhone, but it actually sports some (more impressive) specs that are sure to get you excited.
First off, the phone sports a 5-megapixel, with Image Stabilizer, AF, camera with Schneider Kreuznach optics, a 120fps video camera, 3G HSDPA, 170MB internal memory, a 240 x 400 touchscreen and the obligatory music player.
And besides a nice touchscreen, the aforementioned camera sports a twisting collar around the lens, which doubles as a shuttle dial to get your way through high-speed video footage.
So far this phone is set for a UK release in the Fall and similar or the same product may hit US shelves next year, but there is currently no word on that — just a hope!

need not i remind u that Prada phone was out much before iPhone. In fact, Prada phone’s design was “unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006.” This is much before Jobs pulled out his iPhone from his pants for the first time back in January.
You might say iPhone is a clone of the Prada :p
no… iphone was in development way before the prada. prada copied it and released before the iphone thats all.
As i said before, Prada Phone was unveiled during Q3 of 2006 and won iF Design award in september 2006. iPhone was unveiled for the first time to both the public and press on January 6, 2007, which is 4 month AFTER releasing of LG’s design. Unless you are suggesting LG infiltrated Apple’s highly secure HQ, Prada Phone cannot be considered a copy of iPhone. get ur facts right buddy!
I hope that’s not the final dialpad screen. Hopefully they’ll add the alphabet letters mapped to the pad.

Just because it has a touch screen does not mean its a full screen button-less Iphone device. What I take away from that is that one will be a Smartphone, and the other a PocketPC Phone. Not everything has to involve the I-phone.
I recently made the mistake of taking on a U990 on contract through 3. Having been used to a Nokia my preference would have been the N95 but none were available and, keen to have a good camera attached to the phone I took the U990 instead. Granted the camera is superb – I was particularly impressed by the panoramic facility and all pictures were excellent quality. However – several things let the phone down. The sound quality was very poor and where a nokia would have picked up full signal, this phone was weak. There was no lens cover on the camera and this constantly needed to be cleaned. The zoom on the camera was also the volume control for the phone and this I could never get my head around and it never seemed to be right. The way the phone book/contacts was arranged was infuriating – and scrolling down the page was a faf, I never seemed to end up where I wanted and the directory was not straight forward. This had a knock on effect when texting. Thank god – a phone with buttons!
Today i buy this phone, it’s great but i can’t use all functions, i forgot manual at the story
