Introducing the Hitachi World’s First Blu-ray Camcorder

Sure we knew it was going to happen, but nonetheless, take a peek at the new Blu-ray video cameras from Hitachi. Although they’re currently non-functional, the company claims the camcorder will sport the new 8cm BD/DVD drive and a 5.3-megapixel CMOS sensor capable of recording at full 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Hitachi claims the camcorders will record up to 7GB of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video.

So when will these babies come out? According to the company, it may hit shelves as early as this Fall. Let’s hope so!
