The Hybrid SD – HDD – HDV camera recorder by JVC – Finally we ARE Official !
Here is the latest HDV compact camcorder made by JVC: the Everio GZ-HD3. This product is the little brother of the GZ-HD7 and features a 1.8 inches 60GB HDD, SDHC cards reader and encodes in MPEG-2 TS. The zoom is good for 200x and comes from Konika Minolta.
Contrary to the Panasonic SD3, this JVC is not Full HD but HDV, which means a resolution of 1440×1080, which is not so annoying, the lack of AVCHD codec is a bit more unfortunately as it will reduce the recording time to 25 minutes on a 4GB card (SDHC). Running at full spec you’ll still be able to record 5 hours onto the HDD.
The dimensions (82x75x15mm) and weight (660g) are good in this category, the JVC GZ-HD3 costs 890€ in Japan (¥150000).
