Sony Shows Off Updated PSP

After rumors swirled about the PSP 2, it looks like Sony satisfied fans – kinda.

Shown off at E3 Sony’s Kaz Hirai showed off the new PSP that doesn’t look different on the outside, but is 33 percent lighter, 19 percent slimmer, offer better battery life, faster game load times, and video output to TVs.

Sony has also announced that it will ship the PSP in two separate colors: “ice silver” and a Star Wars-themed white PSP emblazoned with Darth Vader’s visage.

Both versions of the PSP will cost $200 with the silver version including Daxter, a Family Guy UMD video collection, and a 1GB Memory Stick Duo. The Star Wars version will include the new Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron game.

So, if you were looking for the PSP 2, I’m sure you’re a bit disappointed. But if you’re looking for a new experience with (hopefully) better games, the redesigned PSP might be worth checking out.
