Now That’s One Nice HDTV: The NEC MultiSync 20 Series

Today NEC showed off the 40-inch LCD4020 and 46-inch LCD4620 — members of the MultiSync 20 Series of high end HDTVs. Both sets offer a new pixel technology called CV12, which uses chevron-shaped pixels instead of rectangles. By changing the pixel shapes, contrast is doubled and off-angle color shifts are significantly reduced. Even better, the HDTVs are about five times thinner than conventional TVs.

Both the 40-inch and the 46-inch offer1366x768-resolution screens, and interestingly enough, are suitable for TV or PC use. The IT versions sport DVI, VGA, and co-ax video input through BNC. If you would like to use it as a TV, the sets sport component, HDMI, RCA, S-video, and a serial port.

Look for these beauties by the end of June for a whopping $4,400 and $6,300 for the IT versions, or $4,600 and $6,600 for the AV models.
