Panasonic – Both horizontal and vertical setup capable home theater sound bar system – SC-HTB570

Panasonic - Both horizontal and vertical setup capable speakers - home theater sound bar system - SC-HTB570

Another version of Panasonic’s new “home theater sound bar system” – SC-HTB570 – to be released on April 26, is comprised of a wireless subwoofer and 2 speakers that can be placed both horizontally and vertically.

The components are wirelessly connected through Bluetooth.

Also, its “Meiryo (clear) Voice” function allows you to adjust the sound mix to turn up the voice level in the audio of a show you are watching. This might really be helpful when watching a movie that is subtitled in Japanese, in which the original non-Japanese voice level seems to usually be mixed down in favor of other sounds in the audio.

Main Unit: W310mm×L45mm×D188mm
Speaker: Horizontal: W1060mm×L68mm×D41mm (2 placed together), Vertical: W68mm×L541mm×D41mm
Sub woofer: W180mm×L408mm×D306mm
Max output: 240W, Front (L/R): 60W+60W (1kHz, 6Ω), Sub woofer: 120W (100Hz、8Ω)
Input/output terminal: Optical Digital Audio input x 2, HDMI, USB

This tries to do too many things at once. Not a recipe for a great product. The best products don’t try to be all things to all men – they have a sharp focus, a clear design language and non-compromised vision. In the home audio area there are excellent examples of this – the B&W Zeppelin is one, or the more recent Moos Mini Aero. IMO companies like Panasonic need to start differentiating themselves, and the only way to do so is by not doing it-does-everything type products that tick many boxes but offer very little real innovation.
