New-gen SED Televisions delayed by Canon and Toshiba

The reason is unknown but would come from issues related to the North American market. As a result the SED TVs should not see the light of day this winter as announced but later on, obviously at least in 2008.
Another reason comes from a study of both companies on the HDTV market which lead them to consider the production of SED technology televisions too expensive in comparison to the “regular” High Definition screens.
Mass production of SED Televisions is still planned for 2008.

A couple informations aboout this SED technology:

-Thickness similar to a CRT screen but 10 times lighter
-Power consumption is 66% inferior to CRT TVs and 33% compared to LCDs
-The image remains the same under all viewing angles.

your “information” about sed is inaccurate. first, it is not as thick as a crt: it is as slim as an lcd or plasma. second, “inferior” means lower quality, not lower quantity. power consumption is lower, and not “inferior.” so SED consumes less power than CRT and LCD. Otherwise, the rest of the article is interesting and I can’t wait to see SED technology in action.
