Mars Company – Sea Snow – Innovative ice made from salt water that will keep seafood and sashimi fresh longer

Here in Japan, we take our sushi very seriously. And keeping it fresh is a priority. A small Japanese company called MARS Company has developed technology that creates super cold, long-lasting ice to do just that. This technology has made a buzz in Japan, which is fanatical about its seafood.
The company invented a way to use salt water with salinity very close to that of seawater to make ice that, because of its salty composition, must be below -1 degree Celsius to stay frozen. It keeps fish fresh longer and it is the consistency of snow so, compared to traditional crushed ice, it won’t scratch fish during transportation.
This technology will allow longer and more effective transportation of sashimi and will help more people enjoy truly fresh sushi.
