NTT Docomo Spring 2013 Highlights: Docomo “Smart Home”
Docomo is pushing hard to be able to provide all of the components that customers will need to access and share content in any medium in the home. Through the “Smart Home” concept, all content – videos, music, etc. – can be shared between smartphones and home electronics.
New products that will be the key components for Docomo Smart Home:
dmarket
- Access to rich content such as shopping (dshopping), videos (d video), animation (d anime store), etc.
dtab
- 10.1 inch tablet running on Android 4.1, dedicated to usage with Wi-Fi
- Lets you easily optimise the videos, animation, shopping and other rich content available through “dmarket”
- It will be at a very affordable price point
SmartTv dstick
- plugs into your TV to give direct access to the content coming from dmarket / smartphone through dtab
Twonky Beam application
- Enables mobile connection to household electronics
- Full-HD programs can be sent from a Blu-ray Disc recorder directly to the user’s Docomo full-HD smartphone for playback
- Content can be streamed or stored in some models for extra-stable playback while traveling.
- Smartphones and Tablets can be linked to Hikari TV video service with access to over 60 channels of Full-HD programs
- Docomo teamed with Sony, Sharp, Toshiba and Panasonic to make it compatible with all four company’s products
- It can be downloaded from GooglePlay
Home Wi-Fi
- Rental-based LAN routers free to some users or just 315 yen per month depending on users’ package.
- Comes in 4 colors – blue, brown, red and white
